Pokemon X/Y

As a huge Pokemon fan; I should have covered this a lot sooner, but with hectic schedules it is probably better with having a bit more information to go on.

Back in January 2013; a big conference was held revealing Generation 6 of pokemon, called Pokemon X and Pokemon Y. These games are far more advanced than any of the main games as it will use the 3DS as its console. This opens up a range of possibilities as to what they can do with it; as well as it being a world wide release in October!.

Along with something some impressive gameplay of what the world looks like; which the new region appears to be based upon France as it numerous points in the trailer we can see a similar structure to the Eiffel Tower in the background as well French Architecture throughout the trailer.

Possible Eiffel Tower

Along with this; the three starting Pokemon were introduced.

Introduction from left to right; Froakie the frog and the water starter of the game, Fennekin the Fennec Fox and fire starter of the game; and lastly Chespin the hedgehog and grass starter of the game.

All three are pure types in this form but they may gain new types upon evolution as some Pokemon do. As someone who really likes the idea of starter Pokemon; all three are pleasant on the eye and have a nicer feel to them than the generation 5 starter pokemon. As this is based on western theme according to the trailer; it would seem that these starters could have western themes to them; with Froakie being a Wizard, Fennekin being a regal and Chespin being a Knight. However this is just a guess from looking at them. A small clip was shown of each; giving an idea of what they look like in battle and what moves they could pull off.

Along with these three; the two main legendaries were shown as well.

Yveltel is the large Y shaped bird and Xerneas as the X shaped stag; as with other games in the series; they represent the X and Y of the games and will likely be available separately in those games. Theories have come about as to them being based on the Yggdraisil legend; with the possible Z legendary being based on the snake. As a big Norse mythology fan this pleases me greatly and I have high hopes they will include a proper Wolf Pokemon in this game.

Other than the weight, height and names of these pokemon; nothing else has been given about them, so it is still a mystery as to what type they will be.

Prior to the announcement of these games; there were many hints that Eevee will be getting a new evolution; however people dismissed it until Sylveon was announced.

Like Yvetel and Xerneas; Sylveon's type has not been revealed; which has caused quite a stir among the fan base. With the other Eeveelutions, you could tell what type they were just by looking at them, however with this it could be numerous types. Bug, Normal and Dragon are the most common types to be said; but we should here more information soon about this mysterious Pokemon.

The most recent news for the games was the announcement of a new form for Mewtwo; now I am far from a Gen 1 purist but I do believe they should not have given Mewtwo a form as it was fine as it was. But I am someone who isn't overly keen on the whole form changing aspect of pokemon; for some its fine but it can be done a bit too much.

Not much is known about this new form; other than that it is debuting in the film, Extremespeed Genesect: Mewtwo's awakening. Its type will likely remain Psychic but it is unknown if it will gain a secondary typing.

With Sylveon and now this new Mewtwo form; it opens up more possibilities for overlooked Pokemon to get a new evolution; really hoping Torkoal gets one!

And that is it for now; I'll update more frequently now with more information as we get it; but I am really looking forward to getting one of these games, depending on what Pokemon are in each.
